A consistent approach to the writing process in all subject areas and explicit instruction on the writing process helps students become better writers. Models of good writing in the subject area, and feedback that is constructive and formative, are critical to students’ growth as writers. Different subjects require different types of writing assignments but all writing can follow the same process. By adopting a consistent writing process across all subject areas, participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their practice and learn about enhancing their writing approach. Practical ideas to be used in the classroom immediately will be shared. Teachers will be able to ease some of the stress associated with writing, and help students build confidence and skill as writers.
